EXPLORING BIOREGIONING: Stories from the Mystic River (USA)
Organised by the Austrlian Earth Laws Alliance
10-11:30am online [RSVP Link]
Join us for AELA's "Exploring Bioregioning" webinar series! In our April webinar, AELA Convenor and Greenprints creator, Dr Michelle Maloney, will be joined by Bill Baue, Brenda Greer, Maggie Favretti and Mike Thomas, who collaborate in a bioregioning collective covering the northeast region of Turtle Island (North America), which shares a common forested landscape. Brenda, Maggie and Mike are also members of the Alliance for the Mystic River Watershed and all our guest speakers will share stories about their bioregioning efforts in the Mystic River Watershed (Catchment) in the United States.
Bioregioning is a Western term that sees human societies and culture as part of nature, and proposes that modern human societies can be more sustainable, successful and meaningful, if our political, cultural and economic systems are organised within natural boundaries such as bioregions and catchments (watersheds). Some have referred to bioregional governance as 'localisation within the foundations of nature'.

Theatre Games at Kurilpa Commons
Event by Growing Forward
3pm at Kurilpa Commons, 250 Boundary St West End [Facebook event]
Come play theatre games at the Kurilpa commons!
This will be a session of simple theatre games based on movement, connection, joy and play. This is an opportunity for folks to be open minded and silly, and to explore how clown and bouffon can be used in political theatre.
Some theatre games will be about non-critically playing, allowing the doing self to be in charge and the critical reflection self to be quiet.
And others will explore some clownish or bouffon-like parody theatre of all the characters involved in Kurilpa commons defence campaign - TMR, cops, council bulldozer contractors, developers, developer site workers, council bosses and of course ourselves, the commoners.
It's good for bouffon work if we can imitate very well the people we are playing to mock. Phrases, the way they talk, if we know their characteristic postures, the way they walk. All of that is fun to play with and watch if there is some accuracy. The imitation can be twisted however the player wants - wildly creative, can be bizarre, grotesque, childlike, have animal characteristics, anything!
The session will be facilitated by a commoner who is new to learning these games, so this will not be a professional teaching session. Just an opportunity to play!
